Let me introduce myself.....

I'm a full-time working, off and on student with a 2(almost 3!) month old baby girl. We don't make a lot of money at home, we aren't "rich" financially. But we are rich in many other ways!! That's for another blog though. The purpose of this blog is to review cloth diapers. Not just the diapers, but their packaging and everything about them as well. And also to help my friends and family who might find the whole idea overwhelming. I'm here to give you advice based on my own personal experiences, and help you to get started. Trust me, in a matter of three months, you will become and expert on poop containment!

When I got pregnant, I thought about cloth diapering. But the thought quickly stopped when I got to thinking about the care....the laundry, the smell, etc. I quickly pushed the thought out of my head, I mean after all, I live in an apartment. How was I supposed to do all this laundry, right? Then my mom gave me one month diaper service as a baby shower gift! How exciting! I could cloth diaper for the first month without a care, and then decide what to do later. I was still not convinced though, that cloth diapering would be for me. I really wanted to be green, but I really didn't think it would be possible to keep up on on the diapers without having a washer and dryer inside my house. That was my biggest fear, being trapped all day and night in a laundry room. It just didn't seem like a reasonable solution for my family.

I was wrong. Really wrong! After the first month of diaper service, I decided to keep it! I'll review diaper service later. But really, it's awesome. And it also helped me to realize that I COULD do this! Even without a washer and dryer inside my house. Even without having the luxury of selecting cycles on the washing machine. It's just not difficult! I will no longer accept that as an excuse from my friends and family who whine that it's too hard. It isn't hard!! It's really easy, and you'll grow to love it once you try it. Let's face it, we are dealing with poop here. It's not a pretty subject, so why not make it something enjoyable! Cloth diapers do just that, in my opinion.

After deciding to stick to cloth diapering, I started looking into buying my own so I can eventually get rid of the diaper service. The service isn't that expensive (still cheaper than buying disposables!) but, I can save even more cash by doing it all myself. So why not. I'm not rich, after all. And one of the many benefits of cloth diapering is it's affordability. I'm not going to do the cost comparison for you, the internet is filled with that info. Trust me, it's cheaper. Don't trust me? Then google it :)

Another advantage, it's "green". If you care at all about the planet, then you will care enough to know that a disposable diaper stays in our landfills for an estimated 500+ years. Now compile that with the roughly 6,000 disposables your baby will contribute to the landfill in just 2 short years......that's JUST your baby. And that's only for two years, your more likely to go three. Imagine allllllll the other babies in the US being born all the time......It's a number that is too large to fathom.......gross. Think of all those diapers that are already in the landfills, just hangin out for generations to come.....why would you want to add to that? Seriously? I'll say it again.....GROSS!!!

If that isn't enough, think of your sweet little baby's bum. How precious and new......now why do you want to slap a bunch of chemicals on the cute little bottom!?

Well, those are a few of my reasons anyways. I'm not going to judge you if you choose disposables, but I will think of all the mess that you are adding to our landfills for generations to come, and maybe you will think about it now too :)

So that's a little about me, my family, the reasons why we cloth diaper, and how we got started. If there's anything else you'd like to know about us, just ask! I absolutely love being a mom and wife, and I love to talk about it :) My reviews and recommendations will follow as I get to them!
